Mendota Heights PD Blotter: Business Reports International Phone Call Bill So High It's Criminal

Business thefts and a deer-car collision reported to Mendota Heights Police Department.

March 7

A driver heading south on Delaware Avenue hit a deer. The hood of the driver’s vehicle was slightly damaged. The injured deer was “dispatched.”

March 6

Police noticed a man on Lilac Lane matching the description of a suspect involved in recent theft and suspicious activity. The man, who was identified then released, was later found to be in possession of stolen goods.

March 5

Property was reported stolen from a vehicle on the 1900 block of Hunter Lane.

An extremely intoxicated woman was picked up on Garden Lane and taken to detox.

March 3

Police responded to a fight at the Joke Joint. One victim had a cut on his face and an injured eye. The suspect was nowhere to be found.

March 2

A speeding driver on Interstate 494 failed to signal lane changes and was pulled over. The driver failed field sobriety tests, and a preliminary breath test measured a blood alcohol level of .197.

A trailer and Bobcat were reported stolen from the 2300 block of Pilot Knob Road.

Jewelry was reported stolen from a residence on the 1000 block of James Court.

Feb. 27

A trailer parked on D Street in Mendota blocking traffic was cited.

Feb. 26

A visitor at Fairfield Inn and Suites was so intoxicated police were called for a transfer to Ramsey County detox. A preliminary breath test measured a blood alcohol level of .229. The person was under a court order not to drink.

Feb. 25

A worker from a business on Centre Point Road reported the discovery of $4,166 worth of international phone calls on the company’s cell phone bill. None of the calls had been made by employees.

A two-vehicle accident in the turn lane of Lexington Avenue and Highway 110 resulted in substantial damage, but neither driver requested medical attention.

Feb. 23

Residents of an apartment building reported two strangers inside the building. When police arrived, the pair explained they had run out of gas on the freeway, and were attempting to find gas. Police instead found that both of the individuals had outstanding warrants.

An employee of a business on Northland Drive reported being contacted by a bank about a fraudulent check written from the business’ account. The bank was able to supply a copy of the check and a photocopy of the suspect’s driver’s license.

A laptop was reported stolen from a desk at a business on the 1400 block of Northland Drive.

A passport and iPod were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on the 1300 block of Mendota Heights Road.

A window was broken and a GPS reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on the 1400 block of Northland Drive overnight.

Feb. 20

A resident on the 600 block of Ivy Falls Drive reported loose change stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
