Man Arrested in Inver Grove Police Standoff Scheduled for Bail Hearing

A 20-year-old Inver Grove Heights man arrested following a six-hour standoff with police last week is scheduled for a bail hearing in Dakota County District Court in Hastings on Friday.

Joseph John Gallahue was being held in the county jail on $150,000 bail Thursday night.

Gallahue allegedly was holed up with a gun in an Inver Grove Heights home on Dec. 28. A SWAT team ended the standoff when it entered the home and apprehended Gallahue.

Reports said police believed Gallahue possibly was suicidal during the standoff.

Gallahue has been charged with a felony dangerous weapons crime, according to court records.

The Dakota County Jail website says four other charges were pending: a gross-misdemeanor charge for domestic assault and misdemeanor charges for nuisance, disorderly conduct and underage alcohol consumption.

Gallahue made his first appearance in district court on Monday, according to court records. His omnibus hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 14.
