Inver Grove Heights Native in Critical Condition after Hit-and-Run in St. Paul

The family of an Inver Grove Heights man who now calls St. Paul his home is begging for the public's help after a hit-and-run this morning left him in critical condition at Region's Hospital.

The man, 31-year-old Wade Souster, was found at the intersection of Phalen and Atlantic this morning around 4 a.m. by a passer-by. The man called 911 immediately and Souster was transported by ambulance.

St. Paul Police and other agencies are asking body shop owners to be on the lookout for any car coming in with new front-end damage consistent with that of striking a person. They have little else to go on, they told FOX 9 this morning. 

Wayne's family, pleading for the public's help or for someone to step forward, issued a statement via multiple media outlets today. 

Again, via FOX 9:

"We are devastated that whoever hit him did not stop to help, but we are grateful to the driver who found him and did call an ambulance. We are also thankful that Wade is alive and we hope and pray that he will have a full recovery.

"Wade grew up in Inver Grove Heights. He now lives in the Lake Phalen area and often liked to go for a walk late at night. He loves and makes friends with everyone, which is why everyone calls him 'Uncle Wade,' not just his many nieces and nephews.

"A Caring Bridge site will be set up by this weekend so Wade's many friends and loved ones can follow his progress. We ask that you keep him in your prayers. For anyone who may have information about who hit Wade, please call the police."
