Cultures Stones Theft and Backpack of Beer and Brass Knuckles: Mendota Heights PD Blotter

June 18

  • A person reported someone stole her phone while she was at a graduation party in the 10 block of Beebe Avenue. Her cell phone provider pinged the phone and located it in St. Paul. The phone was later returned.
  • A verbal fight was reported. A man agreed to leave the location.
  • A driver took gas without paying for it.
June 19
  • A person in the 1300 block of Mendota Heights Road said threatening voicemails were left on their phone.
  • Someone took a mailbox from a post in the 1200 block of Sylvandale Road.
  • Thirty-six boxes of cultured stones were stolen from an unlocked underground garage.
June 20
  • An elderly woman had low blood sugar in the 700 block of Main Street.
  • A man in the 1900 block of Summit Lane said his child found a backpack near an elementary school. “Full cans of beer, brass knuckles and a razor blade attachment, cologne and handwritten song lyrics” were in the backpack. The officer brought the backpack to the Mendota Heights Police Department.
  • A vehicle was damaged in the 1600 block of Lilydale Road.
June 21
  • An employee of a business in the 1200 block of Mendota Heights Road reported a driver left without paying for gas. The license plate number did not match the description of the vehicle on file.
  • A vehicle with front-end damage was found on Chippewa Avenue near Junction Lane. It was owned by a car dealership in Vadnais Heights. Southeast Towing picked up the vehicle.
  • Someone broke into a car and took a backpack, which included several electronics, paperwork and cash. There were no witnesses.
June 22
  • An unknown elderly man was sitting on the patio of a house in the 700 block of South Plaza Drive. He was taken to a hospital.
  • A large-caliber bullet damaged the east window of a condominium in the 1800 block of Eagle Ridge Drive. No one was injured.
  • A person’s car hit another car in the 2000 block of Centre Pointe Boulevard, and then left the area. Police found the vehicle that left. The driver said they did not realize they hit another car. No citation was issued.
  • Someone fired a gun at a house in the 1900 block of Victoria Road. No one was hurt. Police collected evidence and photos.
June 23
  • A two-vehicle crash was reported on Mendota Heights Road. A postal truck hit the back of a Ford Ranger. There were no injuries.
June 24
  • The driver of a vehicle was stopped for speeding on 35E. Police saw marijuana in plain sight and seized it. A citation was issued for speeding and a small amount of marijuana.
  • A driver pumped $75 of gas into a U-Haul and then left Holiday without paying.
  • Someone took a $21 bottle of vodka from a liquor store. The person left and got into a silver two-door car. Video surveillance was forwarded for possible follow-up.
  • A man dropped his brother’s rifle off at the police station for disposal.
June 25
  • A domestic dispute was reported in the 2400 block of Pond Circle East. The man and woman did not want to file charges against each other. The man and his child left for the night.
  • A gun permit was issued to a resident.
  • Someone came to the police station and reported fraud.
June 26
  • A person was passed out in a vehicle in the 1200 block of Mendota Heights Road. An officer woke the person, who had poor balance, slurred speech and an odor of alcohol. There was an open bottle of vodka on the passenger side floor. The driver refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test and was taken to detox.
  • A person who was involved in a vehicle crash with another car was suspicious of the other driver. “She stated that she was afraid.” An officer took a report in the 800 block of Highway 13 Hill.
  • A non-injury crash was reported in the 1200 block of Northland Drive. The vehicles were not towed and no citations were issued.
June 27
  • A driver left a station without paying for gas. A customer provided a possible license plate number. There is no video of the incident.
  • A bronze statue was stolen in the 700 block of Linden Street.
June 29
  • A man in the 2200 block of Nashua Lane said another dog attacked his dog. The other dog owner was contacted. More follow-up expected.
  • A front license plate was taken from a vehicle in the 600 block of Cheyenne Lane.
June 30
  • An assault was reported in the 1900 block of Summit Lane.
  • A gas drive-off was reported. The license plate was not on file.
  • A driver left without paying for gas in the 1200 block of Mendota Heights Road. The car owner no longer lives in Eagan and is thought to be staying with friends or in her car.
  • A two-car crash was reported. A citation was issued.
July 1
  • A person in the 600 block of Sutcliff Circle reported their 15-year-old daughter used a vehicle without permission. The girl later returned with the vehicle and then ran away with a man who dropped his wallet in the parent’s vehicle. The daughter is now considered a runaway.
  • A person left without paying for gas. A partial plate was reported and there is video evidence.
