Local Bridge and Road Projects Highlight State's Construction Agenda
Unseasonably warm weather is allowing for an early start to local road and bridge projects.
The just-announced list of road and bridge construction projects from the Minnesota Department of Transportation holds promise, and perhaps occasional frustration, for the southeast metro area.
Here are some of the road and bridge projects scheduled for construction this summer:
- Highway 52 Lafayette Bridge reconstruction (multi-year project)
- I-35E & Highway 110 - road and bridge deck repairs, signal replacement
- Hastings Bridge replacement (multi-year project)

While these projects may cause occasional traffic delays, each one is expected to significantly improve safety.
The unseasonably warm weather we have had this spring has helped the department get an early start, according to MnDOT Commissioner Tom Sorel. This should aid in getting the work done a timely fashion.
