Injured St. Croix Lutheran Hockey Player Receiving Treatment, Prayers

Jenna Privette is being treated for a spinal injury she received in a hockey game last Friday.

St. Croix Lutheran High School hockey player Jenna Privette incurred a spinal injury Jan. 6 after being checked from behind during a game.

The injury happened one week to the day after was paralyzed by a check from behind. Media reports say Privette had painted a number 13 on her cheek in recognition of Jablonski for the game.

Privette, a Lakeville native, is being treated at Hennepin County Medical Center. Her family reported Wednesday that she still has no feeling in her legs, and she has an infection at the site of one of her IVs.

The family said in a statement that her injury is being described by doctors as "somewhat like a concussion to her spine." She has already started some physical therapy, and doctors have identified possible treatment options.

Jenna's brother Jake Privette reported on the Support for Jenna Privette Facebook page dedicated to her recovery that she was in "a lot of pain" Tuesday, and the family is asking for prayers to help with her recovery and the recent infection.

Students at St. Croix, and beyond have organized to wear blue clothing in support of Privette and her recovery. Blue is the color of St. Croix's hockey jerseys.

Beginning Thursday, bracelets that say "Jenna Privette #23 in our hearts" will be sold for $5 to raise funds for Privette's medical expenses.
