Sibley Students Raise $30,000 for Local Charities

Henry Sibley High School raised more than $30,000 for two local charities during an annual fundraising week called Give One For All (GOFA).

Sibley's student counsil planned the GOFA events, which benefitted I.EM.PHIT, a clinic that provides low-income children and adolescents with physical conditioning and nutritional counseling, and ImpactLives, an organization that gives food and shelter to communities around the world.

Three students served as GOFA Chairs this year: Nicole Engel, LilyAnn Gapinski and Natalie Osendorf. Together, the Student Council members determined which organizations would receive the proceeds of GOFA after reviewing applications, evaluating the applicants’ causes, and voting.

The Student Council then organized fun activities and service events that raised money through the participation of students, school staff and community members. Henry Sibley students’ main service event open to all Sibley students was a day of food packing for ImpactLives. The students packed 560 boxes of food, equaling about 116,000 meals — more than $21,500 worth of food.

“We are so proud of the generous contributions of our students, staff and community during GOFA Week,” said Alison Footh, Student Council advisor. “This year we are especially grateful because our community raised the largest amount of donations in recent history.”

This was the 51st year Henry Sibley students have hosted GOFA week.
