Mendota Heights Remembers: Where Were You Sept. 11, 2001?

It's been ten years since the terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people and changed our lives forever.

On this morning in 2001, four commercial airline flights were hijacked in the air by al-Qaida terrorists.

Most United States residents were hundreds if not thousands of miles away from the devastation when two planes were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Center building. One plane was flown into the Pentagon. A fourth crashed in Pennsylvania after passengers foiled the hijackers' plans.

But we all felt the impact of the news we heard—and the images we saw—that day.
