Mendota Heights Patch Week in Review Feb. 27-March 5

Local student-athletes compete in state and section tournaments, the community welcomes a new business, and legislators get good news about bad times.

Here's what you may have missed last week on Mendota Heights Patch:

At the Capitol, local legislators to improve air quality in ice arenas and study a potential interchange at Argenta Trail and Highway 55. The state also learned of a slightly improved for the upcoming biennium.

At Mendota Heights City Hall, were officially appointed March 1. the council also approved sale of right-of-way to the county in preparation for reconstruction of Delaware Avenue this summer.

The end of the week was full of business news. The opened at Mendota Plaza, bankruptcy filings hinted at a sale in the works, and a between West St. Paul and Mendota Heights emphasized opportunities for economic development.

In sports, the Cadets swim and dive team last weekend by over 200 points, to ultimately place second in the meet March 5.

At the state wrestling tournament, Henry Sibley’s finished third in the Class AAA with a 4-1 record.

A Henry Sibley sophomore, , made a name for himself by placing 12 in the 100-yard freestyle at the Class AA consolation state champs. The Visitation girls basketball team marked a milestone last Tuesday winning after joining the ranks of Class AAA competition. Patch was also  there for the Henry Sibley Warriors girls basketball team's of the season.
