Local Father’s Day Gifts: For the Putt Master

Discover where to get that gift for dad while staying in the Mendota Heights area.

With less than a week left before Father’s Day, many local shops offer great gifts for dad, no matter what his interests. Check back each day this week for more local picks.

If dad’s a golfer, it’s likely he’d want to spend Father’s Day on the golf course. Lucky for the family, there’s a par 3 course right in Mendota Heights.

“That’s one of our busiest days of the year,” said Tom Perkins, clubhouse manager. “Father’s Day is very popular.”

So if you’re thinking of purchasing a round of golf for dad, stop by soon to grab an open tee time. According to Perkins, early in the day or later in the afternoon are usually safe bets. A gift certificate for a round of golf is $10, but the course offers a deal for 20 rounds at $175 - which includes weekends and holidays.

If Father’s Day is full of family activities and dad can’t steal away for a round of golf, the certificates will work anytime - even for glow-in-the-dark golfing at night. Plus, the course is celebrating its 50th anniversary July 2 - July 4 with free hot dogs on July 2 and drawings for prizes.

The clubhouse at Mendota Heights Par 3 Golf Course, 1695 Dodd Road, also offers golfing supplies such as hats and new or used gloves. To take a breather between rounds, dad can sit on the patio with a beer or glass of wine as he scopes out the competition.

For purchasing details, call the course at 651-454-9822.
