House Hunt: Property for Sale in Mendota Heights Area
When choosing between a single family home and an homeowner's association, know what you want and what you're getting.
Nearly two-thirds of the homes currently on the market in the Mendota Heights, Mendota and Lilydale area are townhomes, condos or twin homes that include an association. Associations have fees—sometimes a couple of hundred of dollars and sometimes even higher which pay for things lawn and snow care, parking and sanitation. Sometimes they can include much more like access to a pool, exercise and party room or walking trails. Beyond the fees, associations can also have rules, from architectural restrictions to the number and size of pets. Sellers are required by law to give buyers a copy of the financial documents and the regulations, but it’s up to buyers to read them carefully.
