House Hunt: Mendota Heights Home Prices on Par With 'Best Places' Homes

Average property taxes are lower, too.

According to CNN Money’s feature of the "Best Places to Live," Mendota Heights doesn’t rank, but comparing the city to those on the list, it does pretty well. The average income and family purchasing power are above average. The air quality in the area is far above average–97.5 percent of days where the air quality index is ranked as good compared with the best places average of 77.3 percent, and commutes are comparatively short. (There’s probably a connection.)

Home prices are nearly identical (Mendota Heights’ average home price is only slightly below the average of top places: $358,148 vs. $359,352) and property taxes are $959 below the best place average.

The only real downside is the average low temperature in January, at 4.3º compared with the best places average of 24º. But, it’s not January. Mendota Heights is a great place to live, and right now, has some great homes for sale both below and above the average.
