Get Out ... and Explore the Mendota Heights Area June 23-26

Start the weekend early with a fête at the Sibley House, then soak in some Shakespeare, and just get soaked learning to kayak.

When/Where: 6:30-9 p.m. Thursday, June 23/ , 1357 Sibley Memorial Hwy, Mendota

Why Go: Once upon a time, Mendota was the social hub of fur traders and settlers. Celebrate the French-Canadian cultural legacy of the 1800s with folk music. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged. Finish the night with a bonfire.

When/Where: 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25/ Caponi Art Park, 1220 Diffley Rd, Eagan

Why Go: Choose from “Julius Caesar” on Friday or “A Midsummer’s Night Dream” on Saturday and spend the evening at Caponi Art Park’s outdoor amphitheater enjoying the dulcet phrasing of The Bard.

Pricing: Free. Suggested donation of $4.

 

3.) Storytime at Wescott Library

When/Where: 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 24/ Wescott Library, 1340 Wescott Road, Eagan

Why Go: Stories and activities are provided for all the age ranges that would otherwise be running through your living room.

Price: Free

 

4.) Isaac Witty at the Joke Joint

When/Where: Shows at 8 p.m. June 23, 24, 25, and shows at 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday/ , 801 Sibley Memorial Highway, Lilydale

Why Go: Isaac Witty is a second-generation comedian from Oklahoma now living in Minnesota. Opening act is Jon Wilson.

When/Where: 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, June 25/ Schultze Lake, Lebanon Hills Regional Park, 750 Cliff Road, Eagan

Why Go: Complete Dakota County’s sea kayaking 101 and 102 classes in one day. Designed for ages 15+. Equipment is provided.

Pricing: $90. Registration required.
