Get Out ... and Explore the Mendota Heights Area July 15-17

Everything gleams this weekend, from celestial lights, classic cars to a very special coat.

1.) Universe in the Park
When/Where: 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 15/Dodge Nature Center, meet at the Farm Entrance at 1701 Charlton Street
Why Go: Learn all about the solar system from University of Minnesota astronomers as they share their telescopes and expertise about our universe. According to the Dodge Nature Center website, the evening begins with an indoor presentation, followed by outdoor star-gazing. Recommended for participants ages 12 and over.

Free, pre-registration is preferred for this program. You can register online at www.dodgenaturecenter.org.

 

2.)
When/Where:
6:30-8 p.m. Friday, July 15/ 950 Lilydale Rd., Lilydale
Why Go: Hunt fossils, one and all, in our local regional park with a trained guide.
Price:
Free. Please register with number in your party and their ages.

3.) Highland Fest 2011
When/Where:
2 p.m.-10:30 p.m. Friday, July 15; 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, July 16; and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 17/Cleveland Avenue and Ford Parkway in St. Paul
Why Go: 
Join over 65,000 people in Highland Village for the 28th anniversary of this summer celebration that includes a juried art fair (now in its 44th year), live music on two stages, food, amusement rides, a 5K, a strongman competition and a craft-brew tasting. Organized by the Highland Business Association, all proceeds are used for operational support and for street-scape improvements in Highland Village.

4.)
When/Where?
9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday July 16; TK’s River Bluff Center,
Why Go?  
Classic cars and motorcycle lovers will gather for this annual event that benefits the K-9 unit of the West St. Paul Police Department

5.) Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
When/Where:
Fri. July 15- Sat. July 30/ Eagan High School, 4185 Braddock Trail, Eagan
Why Go:
The Eagan Community Theatre presents “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at Eagan High School. The production brings it to life in an enjoyable musical parable, which runs for 14 performances, including four 2 p.m. matinee shows. Call the box office at 651-683-6964 for dates and times.
Price:
$12 for adults, $10 for seniors 62 and over, and $10 for children 12 and younger. The box office is open at Eagan High School from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and one hour before curtain time. All seating is reserved.
