Get Out ... and Explore the Mendota Heights Area April 29-May 1

Bouncing castles and the mightiest of bike races could be in your future this weekend.

1.)

When/Where: 5:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m., Friday, April 29, , 1979 Summit Ln, Mendota Heights  

Why Go: The theme is "Minute to Win It" and that means plenty of games from the popular TV show. Hot dogs, pasta and other carnival foods are on the menu. Balloon artists, face painting, bouncing castles and a raffle stocked with toys and electronics should keep both kids and parents occupied. Still have energy to burn? The dance party kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

2.) 

When/Where: 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, April 29; Apple Place Bowl, Apple Valley

Why Go: Spend the evening bowling and support the .

Price: $4 per game, plus shoes

When/Where: 8 a.m.–1 p.m., Saturday, April 30/ Second Street, between E Street and F Street; Intersection of D Street and Second Street, Mendota  

Why Go: Spring-cleaning in the city of Mendota will be a bit easier this weekend. The city is providing two dumpsters on Saturday for residents to use for disposal of unwanted or broken items and garbage. Household hazardous waste and electronics will not be accepted.

Price: Appliances will be charged $10 each; tires, $5; $2 for rims

When/Where: 2 p.m.–3 p.m. Saturday, April 30/ , 1340 Wescott Rd, Eagan  

Why Go: Minnesota musician Charlie Parr will turn the Wescott Library into an intimate club setting for fans of his bluegrass-influenced folk music and lyrics.

 Price: Free

 

5.)

When/Where: 6:30 a.m., Sunday, May 1 / , 19600 Ipava Ave, Lakeville

Why Go: The ultimate bike race begins and ends at Lakeville High School this Sunday. Register the morning of the race for the Ironman. A new 17-mile route complements the 30, 68 and 100-mile routes.

Price: $50 for adults, $15 for youth day of the race
