Delaware Avenue Update: Heavy Underground Work North of Deer Run Trail July 8-15

Follow detours and use west parking lot access to Henry Sibley High School.

The upcoming week's schedule for construction on Delaware Avenue by Henry Sibley High School in Mendota Heights has been released.

Better access to local traffic is expected south of Deer Run Trail (across from the south parking lot), while the underground work north of Deer Run will be extensive, according to the county.

Work is being done between the Highway 110 frontage road and just north of Marie Avenue.

When work is complete, Delaware Avenue will be a three-lane roadway with a single lane each direction and a center left turn lane.

Workers are also installing a paved path along the west (school) side of the road.

The main entrance to the high school on Delaware is closed. Visitors and staff should use the west parking lot entrance off of Warrior Drive. Drivers can reach Warrior Drive by turning into The Village at Mendota Heights off of Dodd Road, and following the frontage road east. Access to the frontage road heading west from the intersection of Highway 110 and Delaware is also open, which can also be used to access Warrior Drive.

 What's on the agenda for July 8-15? According to Dakota County, workers will:

  • Continue water main installation on the north end.
  • Continue storm sewer installation from Deer Run Trail to the north.
  • Continue to sub-cut the roadway from Deer Run Trail to the north (once the water main and storm sewer is installed).
  • Relocate private utilities (i.e. cable, electric, telephone, etc.).
