Delaware Avenue Update: Finishing Sewer Work Aug. 5-13

Follow detours and use west parking lot access to Henry Sibley High School.

The upcoming week's schedule for construction on Delaware Avenue by Henry Sibley High School in Mendota Heights has been released.

Work is being done between the Highway 110 frontage road and just north of Marie Avenue.

When work is complete, Delaware Avenue will be a three-lane roadway with a single lane each direction and a center left turn lane.

Workers are also installing a paved path along the west (school) side of the road.

The main entrance to the high school parking lot on Delaware is closed. Visitors and staff should use the west parking lot entrance off of Warrior Drive. Drivers can reach Warrior Drive by turning into The Village at Mendota Heights off of Dodd Road, and following the frontage road east. Access to the frontage road heading west from the intersection of Highway 110 and Delaware is also open, which can also be used to access Warrior Drive.

What's on the agenda for Aug. 5-13? According to Dakota County, workers will:

  • Continue storm sewer installation from just south of Marie Avenue to north end of the project, with a lot of work in the intersection. This should be the final week of storm sewer installation.
  • Continue to sub-cut the roadway (once the storm sewer is installed).
  • Minor private utility work.

The road surface south of Preserve Path is mostly gravel and provides better access to local traffic. Underground work will again be heavy in the intersection of Delaware and Marie Avenue.
