Dakota County Asking Residents to Take Online Survey on Health Concerns

The survey asks residents questions about 11 types of health issues, including infectious diseases, alcohol use and nutrition.

Dakota County wants you to weigh in on the most pressing health needs of the community.

As part of the “Healthy Dakota Initiative,” the county is conducting a survey in which it asks people who live or work in Dakota County to give their opinion on a range of health issues including:

  • access to medical and dental services
  • infectious diseases
  • the health of babies and children
  • nutrition
  • alcohol and tobacco use
  • environmental issues

Answers to the confidential online survey, along with community profiles compiled by the health department, will be used as data points to help develop strategies to address identified health concerns.

A similar process in 2009 led to a prioritization of health concerns that emphasized three issues: obesity and chronic disease, access to health care, and mental health.

The initiative's assessment and improvement plans will be completed by fall of 2014.
