A Fair Shot: Thursday, Aug. 30 at the MN State Fair

Here's how to get to the Minnesota State Fair from Mendota Heights and more.

Day 8: Aug. 30
It’s Seniors Day at the fair, and those 65 and over get in for $7.

For teens heading back to school soon, the fair is hosting a "FAIR-Well to Summer Dance Party" from 8-11 p.m. at Carousel Park.

Cattle, sheep and swine leave the fair at 2 p.m., and barns will be closed for the rest of the day.

The rides at Mighty Midway and Kidway have a one-ticket discount until 1 p.m.

More than 1,000 fair-goers are expected to participate in the Senior Stretch & Stroll. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. and the program begins at 10 a.m. in Carousel Park. Held annually on the second Thursday of the fair, participants receive free t-shirts and fitness equipment.

Rascal Flatts plays the grandstand at 7 p.m. Limited seating is available for $43, $53 and $63.

State Fair Express buses operate from 17 Twin Cities locations on 15- and 30-minute loops. The closest to Mendota Heights is at Signal Hills Shopping Center by K-Mart in West St. Paul. Rides cost $5. Check the fair’s express bus website for more information.
