There’s a heightened hum of activity in the hallways of  as the grades prepare over 100 Thanksgiving meals for families in need of assistance.

Kathleen Daniewicz, the director of campus ministry, said the North Minneapolis Visitation Monastery has signed up 125 families to receive the food support.

 in Mendota Heights will receive $75,000 in the second round of grants awarded through the Partners in Preservation program.

The city requested a  in the first round to relocate power lines and do some additional restoration work on the site, but  in that contest, which was driven by Facebook votes. The Basilica of Saint Mary emerged as the winner, earning a $110,000 grant.

This second round of 12 awards was chosen by an advisory committee, and winners were announced last week.

 

Some residents of the Lemay Lake neighborhood showed up at  Tuesday night to oppose plans for a street reconstruction project next year that would cost residents up to $8,500 per property.

The public hearing was extended to the next regular city council meeting to give staff and council time to review concerns and any options that may be available.

The project to reconstruct Lemay Lake Road, Lakeview Avenue, Kendon Avenue, Furling Avenue and Victory Avenue is scheduled for 2012 as part of the city’s street improvement plan.

 

Green Lotus Yoga Center will be celebrating Nov. 19 both its four-year anniversary as a business and the grand opening of its second location in The Village of Mendota Heights.

“The professional healers and teachers at Green Lotus consider the whole person—inside and out—and then support each person on his or her personal journey of growth and vitality,” said Marcia Appel, who opened Green Lotus Yoga Center's first location in Lakeville, and serves as the CEO.
