Mendota-Based Sun Country Flying to Cuba

The flights began on July 1. What do you think of the airline's decision?

Sun Country Airlines is now flying to Cuba.

The Mendota Heights-based airline is sending two charter flights per day to the communist country from Miami, according to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

"Most of the passengers are Cuban-Americans who are making the one-hour flight home to visit family, or vice versa—and most flights have been full," according to the article.

Two years ago, the Davis family, which also owns Cambria countertop company in Le Sueur, purchased Sun Country. Prior to that, the company was in bankruptcy after Tom Petters was convicted of running a Ponzi scheme.

What do you think of the airline's decision? Do you think it's a good or a bad idea? Tell us in the comments.
