Green Lotus Yoga Center to Open in The Village of Mendota Heights

Holistic healing center hopes to make yoga exercises and holistic treatment options available to patrons in Mendota Heights and the surrounding suburbs.

Green Lotus Yoga Center will be celebrating Nov. 19 both its four-year anniversary as a business and the grand opening of its second location in The Village of Mendota Heights.

“The professional healers and teachers at Green Lotus consider the whole person—inside and out—and then support each person on his or her personal journey of growth and vitality,” said Marcia Appel, who opened Green Lotus Yoga Center's first location in Lakeville, and serves as the CEO.

The Center approaches customers with the promise of living a balanced life by promoting physical and emotional health. Along with strengthening classes, a person attending Green Lotus Yoga Center might receive nutrition counseling, acupuncture, or aura readings, to list a few.

"Mendota Heights, and specifically The Village in Mendota Heights, sit at the crossroads of many vibrant communities," Appel said. The Village makes Green Lotus more accessible to the surrounding suburbs and Appel said she believes Mendota Heights sets the right tone to host a holistic healing center.

Green Lotus prices are dependant on how many classes a person is interested in taking and their age. This can range from $5 for a 12 to 15 year to $15 for a student over 24 per class. Other healing services are offered at a per-session rate depending on the service, though most services run somewhere  between $55 and $175 for one session. Students can also take classes to become certified yoga instructors.

Terry Bly, owner of The Nature of Beauty, an organic cosmetics store in The Village, called Green Lotus “a phenomenal addition (to the area).”  Bly said that as a resident of Mendota Heights, she has been hoping for a local yoga destination for years.

Aside from Green Lotus, people hoping to take yoga or pilates classes must visit Corepower Yoga on Grand Avenue, or one of a few studios in the Highland area for the closest dedicated studios. Fitness centers like the YMCA or Anytime Fitness offer yoga as well.

Green Lotus will offer an alternative to the typical gym setting by focusing on physical health as a vehicle for spiritual growth, Appel said.
