Drkula's, Lucky's 13 and Moose Country Among Businesses Blazing Trail for Vikings Stadium

While just 40 locations in Minnesota feature e-pulltab terminals, Minnesota gambling authorities say popularity is increasing steadily.

At this rate, the good people of Minnesota will have their share of that new $975 million Vikings Stadium paid off in no time.

According to a recent Star Tribune article, Minnesotans have ponied up $642,000 in the three weeks since electronic pulltabs were introduced in approximately 40 locations across the state.

Drkula's 32 Bowl in Inver Grove Heights, Lucky's 13 in Mendota Heights and Moose Country in Lilydale are among those local businesses that have welcomed the new games.

Employees at each of the businesses confirmed on Monday that e-pulltabs are up and running and that they present an intriguing option for customers. All pointed out, however, that traditional paper pulltabs remain the more popular option.

E-pulltabs and sports tip boards are expected to take care of the State's $350 million share of the stadium cost but every dollar paid to play doesn't necessarily find its way to the balance sheet.

State taxes, games distributors and the site hosting the games all get a percentage of each game fee.

Local charities also agreed to kick in around $37 million for stadium financing and, according to state law, they have to be paid back before proceeds from e-pulltabs go to the stadium.

Drkula's and Lucky's 13 each have six e-pulltab terminals and support the Minnesota American Veterans Association (AM Vets) Post 1. Moose Country offers customers four terminals and supports Community Charities of Minnesota

According to MPR News, nearly 2,800 establishments in Minnesota are eligible to have the games and distributors are already asking the Minnesota Gambling Control Board to approve more games.

Dallas-based firm HKS Architects was selected on Sept. 28 to design the Vikings' new stadium. HKS also designed Cowboys Stadium in Dallas and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
