Middle Eastern Festival to Offer Fine Food, Entertainment and Camel Rides

St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church will hold its fifth annual Middle Eastern Festival on July 20, 21 and 22, 2012.

Highlights of the festival include Middle Eastern cuisine, live entertainment, a traditional marketplace, silent auction, tours of the church, games for children and camel rides. Admission to the three-day event is free.

The menu includes Middle Eastern favorites including: roast lamb on the spit, chicken kabobs, kafta, falafel, hummus, gyros, tabouli, spinach pies and the church’s famous homemade bread.

Homemade pastries from centuries old traditions will also be available. Beer, wine and soft drinks will be served. Other Middle Eastern specialties will be available for purchase in the traditional souk (marketplace).

The John Khoury Band will perform live music and the church’s Middle Eastern dance group will perform the traditional Dabke dance.

The festival is being held in conjunction with the church’s 99th anniversary as a parish.

The times for the Middle Eastern Festival are:

Friday, July 20 from 12 noon to 10 p.m.

Saturday, July 21 from 12 noon to 10 p.m.

Sunday, July 22 from 12 noon to 6 p.m.
