Viewfinder: Kids Jump Start Halloween Weekend

Dodge Nature Center's annual Halloween Extravaganza rolls out lots of treats, and a few tricks.

Hundreds of eager trick-or-treaters got an early start on Halloween Saturday evening at the Dodge Nature Center's annual Halloween Extravaganza.

Eager children and their parents walked the Trick or Treat Trail And collected candy and other goodies. The bravest tackled the Scary Trail, which featured no treats but plenty of scares along the nature center's ghostly pond and haunted prairie.

Families took advantage of face painting, scary hair and spooky stories inside, as well as educational programs, skits and a costume contest outside.
