PHOTOS: Gangsters, Flappers and Fairies Go Into the Drink for Charity

A rowdy retinue braved the icy waters of Crystal Lake on Saturday during the eighth annual South Metro Polar Bear Plunge. Among the shivering masses were 45 employees of Mendota Heights-based business Restaurant Technologies, Inc.

On Saturday, the frigid waters of Crystal Lake were tested by dozens of daring south metro residents, decked out in their best for the South Metro Polar Bear Plunge 2013, an annual fundraiser for the Special Olympics. For the fifth year in a row, Restaurant Technologies, Inc., a Mendota Heights-based food services company, participated in the plunge. RTI had raised a total of $55,000 for the Special Olympics and hoped to raise $40,000 more on Saturday.
