Good spirits prevailed in the frosty air.
A small group gathered at Mendota Plaza Thursday night for the second annual Plaza tree-lighting ceremony.
While caroler Lindsay Mattson crooned, visitors drank up hot chocolate provided by Teresa's Mexican Restaurant and registered for prize drawings.
Mayor Sandra Krebsbach had the honors of counting down to the lighting of the tree.
