Rogers Lake Hit by Fish Kill

Fish in the shallow Mendota Heights lake may have died due to the heat, reports WCCO.

Rogers Lake is one of many lakes in southern Minnesota that has been hit by a fish kill this summer, according to a report by WCCO.

The fish kill, when an increased number of fish die off in a short period of time, is likely attributable to the record heat. Mendota Heights has fallen under a number of this summer, with the heat index rising above 100 degrees for several days.

Algae and plant life may also exacerbate unhealthy conditions for fish, according to the report.
