Editor's note: This is a weekly series called "Pet of the Week" where we feature a companion up for adoption from Dakota County animal rescues.

Ellie is a 2-year-old red lab mix who came to the rescue with newborn puppies. The puppies have since been adopted, but she is looking for a home of her own.

She's very gentle and prefers to play with other gentle or older dogs. She listens very well and is dependably housetrained. She is spayed and fully vetted. Ellie would love a fenced yard or a home with someone who enjoys going for walks.

Her adoption fee is $300. She currently weighs 54 pounds. Ellie is currently being fostered in Lakeville and would love a home of her own.
