A few Mendota Heights Police and Reserve officers went on a special assignment last week in Golden Valley to deliver toys to the Toys for Tots Drive.

For 16 years, the Golden Valley Police Department has led regional law enforcement agencies in a culminating event for the Toys for Tots donation effort. On the last day of the drive, police squad cars from across the metro gather in Golden Valley and parade to KARE 11 with flashing lights and sirens loaded with gifts.

MHPD's Denise Urmann, Jim Knox, and Randy Pentel joined the parade to drop off toys that had been donated at the Mendota Heights Police Station.

"That was a great night," said Urmann, who spearheads the effort. MHPD collected 95 toys this year, up from last year's collection of 59 toys.
