Get Out ... and Explore the Mendota Heights Area Aug. 26-28

Get outside for one of the last summer weekends.

When/Where: 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26/ Fort Snelling State Park, Take the Post Road exit off Highway 5 and follow the signs.

Why Go: You’ve been hearing fishing tales all summer. Learn the basics and get one of your own. No license is required to fish from the shore, and rods, reels and bait will be provided.

Why Go: It’s opening day of the sixth annual Harvest of Art community art exhibit. Go for tours, food, and local artist wares.

Mississippi River Hike

When/Where: 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 28/ Hidden Falls Regional Park, St. Paul. North Gate entrance, off of Mississippi River Blvd., south of Ford Parkway

Why Go: Get some exercise in the summer sun and make a few new friends. Bring something for the potluck picnic.
