Egan Plans Re-election Run For Dakota County Board
Egan says he will pursue a third term representing the Mendota Heights-Eagan area.
Dakota County Commissioner Tom Egan announced Wednesday that he will seek a third term on the Dakota County Board of Commissioners in the Third District.
Egan represents Mendota Heights, Lilydale, Mendota and a portion of Eagan.
He also sits as chair of the county’s development agency.
Egan served as mayor and council member of Eagan for 21 years and sat on the Metropolitan Council during both the Ventura and Pawlenty administrations.
What the Dakota County district borders will be in the wake of redistricting will be a topic of discussion at the Administrative Finance and Planning Committee meeting next Tuesday.
Egan said it is likely that the Third District will continue to encompass the Mendota Heights area, with the possibility of some areas in Eagan changing districts.
In a statement, Egan said he wants to maintain the stability and good group dynamics of the board despite the retirement of Commissioner Joe Harris in the First District.
Egan has scheduled a campaign kick-off party on April 25.
