Brief: Four District 197 Teachers Nominated for 2012 Teacher of the Year

Four teachers from four different West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan schools are up for the 2012 award.

 

Four teachers from the West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan School District have been nominated for Minnesota Teacher of the Year.

110 teachers from the state accepted the nomination and completed the required information.

Those nominated:

Aaron Kapaun, Henry Sibley, Choir
Stacy Lufkin, Friendly Hills, Social Studies
Mary Jo Skemp, Mendota Elementary, Fourth Grade
Kim Zellmer, Garlough Elementary, First Grade

Nominees can come from pre-K to 12th grade classrooms, public or private institutions.

Last year, Robert Hanson (Spanish-Sibley) and Jennifer Norris (ESL-Friendly Hills) were named candidates.

A 22-member panel will determine finalists over the coming weeks, and a winner will be announced Sunday, May 6, at The Northland Inn in Brooklyn Park.

I've nominated Aaron Kapaun numerous times. To appreciate his genius one must see him in action, with the students. He is a gem.
