A New Chapter for Mendota Heights Patch

Local Editor Danielle Cabot says goodbye after almost two years.

Always Lead With the News. So ...

... my last day as local editor of Mendota Heights Patch will be Wednesday, Aug. 29. I've taken a position at the League of Minnesota Cities.

From staring at the first blank page before we launched in November of 2010 to seeing the robust readership and variety of coverage available today, this has been an incredibly rewarding experience.

The success of Mendota Heights Patch is because of you—the readers and contributors. Thank you for embracing Patch when no one had ever heard of us. Thank you for posting on Patch, sending in news tips, meeting for coffee and trusting me and our crew of writers and photographers to report on the communities of Mendota Heights, Mendota and Lilydale.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Leaving will be made easier by the fact that the site will continue to grow and evolve after my departure. It is important that you, the community, reach out to my successor and show them what is important to you. Seize the opportunity to mix it up a little, if you choose. It is YOU who are the experts of your towns and neighborhoods, and can best champion communicating your challenges, concerns and victories.

You can email mendotaheights@patch.com regardless of who is at the helm.

As for me, I'm excited for my next challenge, and will continue to be an advocate for local journalism and the Mendota Heights community I've come to know so well. Wish me luck!

Thank you, Marilyn. The city of Lilydale is a fascinating place to cover, and all those other news orgs are missing out on some great people and great stories.
