STA's Mulhere Receives Appointment to West Point

St. Thomas Academy student Connor Mulhere ’12 of Eagan received an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, announced the school Monday.

West Point accepts a class of about 1,200 new cadets a year.

In June 2011, Mulhere attended West Point's Summer Leaders Seminar, where he received a certificate of excellence at the seminar for geospatial information science. Of 500 students attending, Mulhere was one of 10 to be recognized.

Candidates for West Point are evaluated on their academic, medical and physical merits, according to a release from STA, and must receive a nomination from an approved source, such as a member of Congress.

West Point is a four-year, co-educational, federally funded undergraduate college located 50 miles north of New York City. West Point was founded in 1802 as America’s first college of engineering. Since then, West Point has continued to grow and produces commissioned leaders for the U.S. Army.
